Collective Soul enlightened the world of music starting in 1994 using a talented mix of jaw dropping guitar licks and dazzling vocals. The band, made up of Ed Roland, Ross Childress, Dean Roland, Will Turpin and Shane Evans, have entertained for audiences both big and small all around the world. The band's musically inclined make-up is often viewed as a up-beat, pop-sounding display of musical masterworks.
In 1994, the band releases their very first album. Amply titled Hints, Allegations and Things Left Unsaid. Tracks from the album include "Shine", "Love Lifted Me", "Heaven's Already Here" and "Breathe". "Shine" is by far the most famous of all Collective Soul's songs available today. The intense solo within is often quested upon by guitarist everywhere to attain a similar sound and feel.
Their music continued the next year with the release of their self-titled album. Songs on this album are some of the band's most compelling work. Included songs are "The World I Know", "December", "Where the River Flows" and "Smashing Young Man". The songs on this album are personal accounts of self-triumph and preservation of one's self and should be listened to by any fan of music.
Disciplined Breakdown was the band's next work in 1997. Songs on this album include "Precious Declaration", "Disciplined Breakdown", "Forgiveness", and "Crowded Head". With this album the band rocked audiences with up-beat and deeply emotional ballads of rock greatness. It’s by this time, that the band has shown that they aren’t going anywhere soon in terms of music, they continue to build new albums and songs for their next studio album.
1999, the band debuts Dosage, the groups fourth album. Songs on this work include the tracks "Heavy", "Compliment", "Generate" and "Needs". At this point the band have release a good deal of music."Compliment" is show cased on this album as an insightful tale of self-acceptance.
The next year the band releases Blender. Songs on this album include "Why, Pt.2", "You Speak My Language", and a duet with singer Elton John entitled "Perfect Day". The song "Why, Pt.2" can be seen as a story about a person's personal reflection into the realms of philosophy and self-realization.
2001 is earmarked by the release of 7even Year Itch, the band's greatest hits album. High-lighted tracks on this album include "Shine","She Said", "Gel", "The World I Know", "December", "Why Pt.2","Run" and "Heavy". This album is the essential collection of Collective Soul's music thus far in their career. This is probably one of my most favorite albums of all time and really shows off what the band can do as a group.
Youth arrived in 2004 from the band. Hit's on this album include the tracks "Counting the Days","Satellite", "Him" and "Better Now". The band followed up this album the next year with From the Ground Up. A second collection of works from the band. Songs on From the Ground Up include the songs "Youth", "Under Heaven's Skies", "December", "Satellite", "Perfect to Stay" and "Counting the Days".
2006, the band releases Home the band's live concert footage in both CD and DVD form. Titles on this work include "Heavy", "She Said", "How Do You Love", "Home", "Needs", "The World I Know", "Counting the Days", "Crown" and "Shine" as well special features, bonus tracks and extra material from the band.
The next year the band releases Afterwords, the band's 10th album. Songs on this work include "Georgia Girl", "All That I Know", "Good Morning After All", "Adored" and "Hollywood
Collective Soul is one of those bands that is incredibly artistic and positively motivated.
Collective Soul’s albums are proof of this as they are often deeply emotional and slightly spiritual in a sense. The guitar playing is complex and very fluid and the band does a great job performing as musicians.
