John Mayer is one of those kind of artists that you listen to when you are feeling in the mood for something modern, maybe a little contemporary but still definitely musical. He's got that mellow vibe that isn't quite easy listening but still very calm and relaxed.
I wouldn't call it alternative rock, but maybe more of a modern rock. Still, he always carries a positive message in his music, which is very good.
It makes him seem like the every man's rockstar because he is. He's appeared on TV show's like Dave Chappelle where he played the fight music for a bunch of office workers.
John Mayer began making records in 1999 with his first EP entitled Inside Wants Out. Songs from this work include the tracks "Back to You", "Victoria", "Love Soon" and "Quiet"

John Mayer performed his musical magic again with this album and earned two more Grammy's at the awards show this year. "Waiting on the World to Change" snagged him the Best Male Pop Vocal Performance and his album got the Best Pop Vocal Album award.
John Mayer is a rock solid artist who's powerful message and accomplished musical career sets him apart from other artists of these times. His continually stunning performances and heartfelt lyrics set the stage for this artist and his music.
To me, John Mayer has always been a talented singer who seems like a really good guy. I like his music and it kind of reminds me of Jack Johnson but totally different. In other words, if I were to make a mixed tape, I would probably mix John with Jack and maybe through in some Tom Petty and maybe Phish if I’m feeling up for it.
It’s just relaxing music and great guitar music. Sometimes, I’ll just pick up the old acoustic and just start jamming along to Mayer. It’s cool.
UPDATE: John Mayer has recently released his new album entitled Battle Studies which is available in the music player above. Go head, give it a listen.
