Starting her career on Star Search, then moving on to the Mickey Mouse Club Britney Spears released her first hit single "...Baby One More Time" in 1998. Selling over 9 million copies worldwide. Her debut album with the same name launched her career to new heights as it reached #1 on the Billboard Charts. This album also earned her two Grammy Nominations for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and Best New Artist in that year.
Britney's risque video's and powerful stage presence made this pop-diva a house hold name. Baby One More Time contained such hits as "(You Drive Me) Crazy" as well as the chart topping self-titled track.
Oops, I did it again was released a year later had a huge media response. The self-titled track entered the charts at #1 and sold over 1 million copies in the first week alone.
Other tracks on the album like "Stronger", "Lucky" and "Don't Let Me Be The Last to Know" worked well for the starlet as she raised the bar for her fellow pop-icons. A year after the release, the album had again sold over 9 million copies worldwide.
2001,the artist diverted from the classic Disney formula and moved on to release her self-titled album, simply entitled Britney.
This album took a provocative look into the artists life with such sound tracks as "Over Protected", "I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman" and the popular "I'm a Slave for you". The album also contained a cover song of Joan Jet's "I Love Rock and Roll".
In 2002, Britney moved on to other avenues in the the entertainment world, opening her own restaurant in New York City, named Nyla, and starring in her first movie Crossroads.
Both the movie and the restaurant didn't perform well for the star and Spears won two Razzie Awards that year for Worst Original Song and Worst Actress. The star was still doing quite well for herself however as Forbes magazine listed her as the Worlds Most Powerful Celebrity.
In the Zone was released in 2003 and it was also in this year that she got her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. At the MTV Music Awards Show, the starlet performed with Christina Agularia doing a version of "Like a Virgin" and after the performance Britney shared her famous kiss with Pop-Icon Madonna.
In the Zone earned the star a Grammy this year for Best Dance Performance with the song "Toxic" off of this album.
2004 and 2005, Spears released two more albums. The first being her greatest hits album entitled Greatest Hits: My Prerogative and the second being B in the Mix: The Remixes. My Prerogative contained a Bobby Brown cover of the same name.
Blackout hit store shelves in October of 2007 and debuted at #2 on the charts. The hit single "Gimme More" hit #3 on the charts making it the most successful single for the artist since "...Baby one more time" despite a botched MTV Awards performance that same year.
The albums second single "Pieces of Me" achieved platinum status and Blackout went on to win the artist Album of the Year and Act of 2008 in the MTV Europe Music Awards in 2008.
"Pieces of me" also won the starlet several MTV Music Awards that year for Best Female Video, Best Pop Video and Video of the Year. Britney also performed on the hit series "How I Met Your Mother", in 2008, playing a receptionist and bringing the series its highest ratings ever.
